Jewtina y Co. is proud to join Uri L'Tzedek for the inaugural Caminos a la Justicia, Darchei Tzedek: Immigration Retreat. Together, we have created a meaningful program that seeks to (re)connect Jews of Color with their personal immigration story and what's happening with immigration reform in the United States today. This retreat seeks to empower participants to connect with the story of migration in a Jewish context and strengthen the national JOC community.
This program is exclusively for self-identified Jews of Color. People who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latine/o/x, Asian/ Pacific Islander, Sephardic and Mizrahi are invited to apply.
Thanks to the generosity of funders, the subsidized cost of this program is $180. Scholarships are also available for flights.
Immigration is a topic that is close to many Jews. For the most part, we all have an immigration story to explore. Given our community's history with racism and colorism, however, we believe that Jews of Color (JOC) need affinity spaces to gather and be free from mainstream stereotypes and marginalization that already permeate many Jewish spaces. Valuing and protecting spaces for JOCs is crucial to the mission of this program. Knowing that there is tremendous interest in this retreat, we look forward to replicating this opportunity in the future for a wider audience.
