Founder's Statement

Jewtina y Co. began as a dream, one sparked long ago as a young girl growing up in Southern California. Surrounded by vibrant Latin and Jewish communities that were often seen as separate worlds, I longed to create a space where they could exist together in harmony. 

The ideation for this organization took root in 2018, when I applied for a dream fellowship that I didn't receive. But as with all journeys, what seemed like a setback became the seed for something far more meaningful. Jewtina y Co. became a reality.

Though our strategic planning started in 2018, the organization officially launched at the start of Latin Heritage Month in September 2019, during a time when the accomplishments of the Latin community were in the spotlight. We knew it was the perfect moment to elevate Latin-Jewish stories and amplify the voices of those often overlooked. With passion, purpose, and the determination to create something new, Jewtina y Co. was born.

At the start of 2020, I was joined by the brilliant Kimberly Dueñas, who stepped in as our Director of Learning and, as our second employee, became a founding member of the Jewtina y Co community. From that moment, the journey became even more thrilling, and, as they say, the rest is history. Together, we set out with a shared vision to build a community that uplifts and celebrates the vibrant mosaic of Latin-Jewish identity.

As a sociologist, I’ve had the unique privilege of visiting Jewish communities across every Latin American country. These journeys have filled me with awe and gratitude, allowing me to witness the resilience, beauty, and diversity of our people.

Our global Latin-Jewish community is more than 750,000 strong—a vibrant, dynamic collective that transcends borders and unites us in shared identity and purpose. I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you who makes this community so extraordinary. Jewtina y Co. is not just an organization; it is a living, breathing celebration of who we are, the rich heritage we carry, and the bright future we are building together.
