ROOTAS Colombia is an immersive travel experience crafted for Jewish adults who are curious about engaging with Latin-Jewish culture, identity, and community. More than just travel, ROOTAS is about gaining a deeper, real-world understanding of a country’s cultural context—and how that context has shaped the development of a truly global Jewish community. This trip centers Latin-Jewry but invites Latin-Jews, non–Latin-Jewish allies, and non–Jewish-Latin allies committed to becoming ambassadors of Latin-Jewish identity and culture.
From Sunday, June 28th, 2026 to Sunday, July 5th, 2026, our ROOTAS Colombia cohort will journey together through Bogotá and Medellín, engaging deeply with local communities, history, and traditions. The experience begins in Bogotá, where participants will spend two days exploring the city’s cultural landscape, connecting with Jewish community members, and learning through guided tours and shared experiences. Midweek, the group will travel to Medellín, where they will continue their journey with an excursion to El Peñón de Guatapé, opportunities to engage with local communities, and time to experience the city’s dynamic energy.*
The trip will also include a shared Shabbat experience, creating space for reflection, connection, and community building. Throughout the week, participants will build meaningful relationships, gain new perspectives on Latin American Jewish life, and become part of a growing network committed to uplifting Latin-Jewish stories.
Applications are now OPEN through Sunday, April 19th. Please reach out to violeta@jewtina.org with any questions.
