Applications are now open for "Voces en Vivo: Not Your Mama's Jewtinidad," a multi-city storytelling and performance initiative centering Latin-Jewish self-identified women and nonbinary individuals as powerful, necessary voices in the Jewish narrative.
Over the next year, selected storytellers will work with Caroline Rothstein, an accomplished writer and performer, to develop and shape their story into a 5-10 minute piece and perform it at two showcase events across the country. All costs—coaching, workshops, travel—are covered. Our inaugural pilot — La Mariposa Latin-Jewish Storytelling Soirée, held in New York City — confirmed what we already knew: there is a deep hunger for this kind of revelatory, identity-affirming storytelling, and the world is ready to hear it.
The storyteller application and timeline can be found here. We can't wait to hear from you! Please note: Space is extremely limited; non-acceptance to cohort does NOT reflect the value of your story
— Folks that identity as Latin and Jewish
— Folks that identity as a woman or non-binary individual
— Folks with experience, without experience, with something to say, those who think they don't have much to say, introverts, extroverts, those just here for the plot, and everyone in between!
— Join an intimate cohort of storytellers, who will work with a coach to bring a story of their choosing to life for a live 5-10 minute performance
— Participate in virtual individual coaching sessions and group workshop sessions
— Participate in a 1-day in-person group workshop
— Participate in performance rehearsals
— Perform story at 2 showcase events between now and December 2027
There is no cost to participate! Travel costs to / from the 1-day in-person workshop and to / from performances will be covered.
Applications will be reviewed between October 6th and November 2nd. Applicants will be invited for an interview during November. Storytellers will be notified of their application status by December 1st.
Jewtina y Co. is committed to centering candidates from Latin, Jewish, and other historically marginalized communities. We strongly encourage applications from Latin-Jewish, Black, Indigenous, and queer-identified storytellers.
