ROOTAS is an immersive travel experience crafted for Jewish young adults who are curious about engaging with Latin-Jewish culture. These unique cohort journeys bring together a diverse group to learn, explore, and connect with the vibrant culture, history, and peoplehood of Latin America. More than just travel, ROOTAS is about gaining a deeper, real-world understanding of a country’s cultural context—and how that context has shaped the development of a truly global Jewish community. With a focus on centering Latin-Jewry, some of our trips are exclusively for Latin-Jews, while others are intentionally curated so that two-thirds of participants are Latin-Jewish and one-third are non–Latin-Jewish allies committed to becoming ambassadors of Latin-Jewish identity and culture.

ROOTAS Chile
ROOTAS Chile will bring young Los Angelenos together as a cohort to learn, explore, and engage directly with Chile’s vibrant culture, rich history, and diverse Jewish community. Through site visits, conversations with local leaders, encounters with Chilean Jews, and hands-on cultural activities, participants will gain new perspectives on Latin American Jewish peoplehood. Alongside these experiences, the cohort will build a network of peers who share a commitment to elevating Latin-Jewish stories.
