About the Project

Jewtina y Co. is looking for a Storytelling/Performance Coach for "Voces en Vivo: Not Your Mama's Jewtinidad," a multi-city storytelling and performance initiative centering Latin-Jewish women and nonbinary individuals as powerful, necessary voices in the Jewish narrative.

Running January 2026 through December 2028, the program trains 2–3 storytellers per year through cohort-based sessions and individualized coaching, culminating in live public performances across 2–3 cities annually. Our inaugural pilot — La Mariposa Latin-Jewish Storytelling Soirée, held in New York City — confirmed what we already knew: there is a deep hunger for this kind of revelatory, identity-affirming storytelling, and the world is ready to hear it.

Who is Jewtina y Co. looking for?

Required:

— Demonstrated experience coaching performance storytelling, spoken word, or theatrical monologue

— Strong understanding of identity-based narrative and intersectional frameworks

— Ability to work sensitively with stories rooted in race, gender, religion, and diaspora

— Professional references from past storytelling or performance coaching engagements

Strongly preferred:

— Familiarity with Latin American oral traditions (testimonio, cuento, corrido, oral history)

— Familiarity with Jewish feminist narrative traditions or willingness to learn

— Bilingual in Spanish and English

— Experience with live event production or running a performance show

— Based in or able to travel to NYC, LA, Miami, DC, or SF Bay Area

What is the scope of work?

This is a part-time contract engagement with an estimated 40–60 of annual hours per cohort cycle. The selected coach will:

1. INDIVIDUAL COACHING: Provide 4–6 one-on-one coaching sessions per storyteller per cohort (2–3 storytellers/year). Sessions focus on narrative arc, stage presence, authentic voice, and physical performance.

2. GROUP WORKSHOPS: Co-facilitate a mid-program story draft workshop with the full cohort. Lead a final group rehearsal session ahead of live performances.

3. PERFORMANCE FORMAT DESIGN: Collaborate with Jewtina staff to refine and maintain the La Mariposa performance format — including run-of-show, pacing, and audience engagement arc.

4. COACHING RUBRIC: Develop and share a rubric for what a strong 5-minute identity piece looks like, grounded in both craft and cultural specificity.

5. STORYTELLER READINESS: Provide a brief written readiness assessment per storyteller ahead of each performance.

2. Coaching philosophy statement (1 page max): How you approach identity-based storytelling development

3. Relevant experience: 2–3 examples of past storytelling coaching or performance direction work

4. Two professional references (name, relationship, contact info)

5. Proposed fee structure: hourly or project-based, with estimated annual total

6. Optional: sample coaching materials, syllabi, or workshop outlines

What is the selection process?

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Finalists will be invited for a 30-minute video interview in August 2026. We aim to have a contract signed by August 15, 2026.

What is the compensation?

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. We are open to hourly or project-based fee structures. Travel support for in-person performance events is included separately.
